fnatic and Cloud9 are through to the Upper semi-finals of the ESEA season 17 LAN finals after beating eLevate and mousesports, respectively. The first map of the fnatic-eLevate series was de_mirage, fnatic's choice, and it ended up being a walk in the park for the Swedish side, who began on the Terrorist side. With eLevate not covering the middle section during the pistol round, it was with little surprise that they were caught off-guard in the pistol round following a B split from the Europeans. In the first gun round, fnatic rushed A and easily took control of the site. Matt "Warden" Dickens still took down three opponents after being left in a 1-on-4 situation but was killed in the final confrontation. fnatic remained in the driving seat for the rest of the half, with eLevate looking completely helpless against the Swedes' perfectly-timed tactics, and so the North American got nothing from the first half. Now playing on the CT side, a triple kill from Jesper "JW" Wecksell in a rush took eLevate by storm and sealed a 16-0 victory for fnatic.
Next up was de_cache, Salvatore "Volcano" Garozzo's own map, but it was fnatic who came out the brighter following an aggressive push in the pistol round, with Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson winning a 1-on-2 situation in A. After losing the first eco round, eLevate went on a full buy and the move almost paid off, but they ultimately ran out of time to plant the bomb. That did not kill their motivation, however, as they picked up the following three rounds to level things up, but then fnatic embarked on a winning streak as they took a 12-3 lead going into the second half. A no-nonsense A push from fnatic in the pistol round as Terrorist further enlarged their lead and powered the Swedish team to walk away with a comfortable 16-3 victory and an overall 2-0 success. In the other quarter-final match, Cloud9 secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over mousesports, who are attending the event with Fatih "gob b" Dayik as a stand-in for Aleksi "allu" Jalli. It all started on de_cache, where the North American side picked up a 16-14 victory, with the Germany-based side responding on de_mirage with a 16-12 win. The deciding map was de_train, where Cloud9 ran out 16-11 winners. ESEA Invite Season 17 Global FinalsBest of 3
